Sony teased virtual reality 3d gaming

Sony has hinted that it is looking into virtual reality gaming and is working on creating its prototype VR headset for the mass market. Future of 3d gaming.

When Sony showed off its Sony Personal Display virtual reality headset at CES, it said that while the 3D viewer was very much a concept device plans were a foot to push the technology further. Now Sony London Studios boss Mick Hocking has revealed that his team is using the device to experiment with new virtual reality games.



The prospect of 3D PS3 games pumped through the Sony Personal Display’s twin-OLED screens right before your eyes is an intriguing one and opens up the prospect of a 3D gaming experience that could potentially make the Nintendo 3DS look positively prehistoric. 'Being in a virtual world where I can see my virtual hands or a virtual gun with all the things we can do in the gaming world is going to be absolutely amazing,' he said.

While Sony unveiled its HMD at CES earlier this year, it's yet to announce either a release date or a firm set of specificiations.

The technology may be the future of 3D gaming, but Sony will probably hold off on producing the headset until well after the next Playstation few Playstation consoles are developed.
