Review: Nokia 808 PureView

Nokia plan to be kings of mobile imaging and have put great amounts of effort to create the newest Nokia smartphone 808 PureView.

Nokia 808 full of interesting features, Its defining feature is, of course, the 41MP camera sensor, which is certain to excite as much as it will raise many eyebrows. Here's an extensive blog post that explains how the PureView camera worksHere's the short version: by default, the newest Nokia smartphone 808 PureView shoots 5MP shots but does something called oversampling - 8 pixels from the sensor are combined into a single pixel in the image. This is meant to improve the image quality, but also let you zoom in up to 3x in the photo while keeping the actual resolution and not losing sharpness. You can zoom up to 4x in the 1080p videos that the PureView can record.

The camera protrudes from the back, just like it did in the N8, but the newest Nokia smartphone 808 is bigger and noticeably thicker than the N8. Part of that is due to the 4" ClearBlack AMOLED display, which really pushes the limits of its nHD (360x640 resolution). The "hump" for the camera is something you'll have to get used to, but people seemed to really appreciate the PureView's design because Nokia 808 is full of incredible look and style.

The newest Nokia smartphone 808 PureView runs the Nokia Belle OS and is the fastest of the Belles - a single-core 1.3GHz processors. It's the fastest, smoothest Belle-running (or Anna, or Symbian, or whatever) phone we've ever handled. See it in action:

Air Purifier Robot-2011

New from Moneual this year at the Consumer Electronics Show is an update to its award winning, state-of-the-art robot air purifier.

The Rydis H1004 II is not just an air purifier or an R2D2 impersonator (though it looks a bit like one). It’s a safety system for the elderly or anyone requiring special care. It features an injury detection wristband that can detect a physical injury to the user, monitor their condition, and call for help.

The robot purifier, which was a CES 2011 Innovation Award Honoree, can also sync to your smartphone, allowing users to control the robot and monitor the purity of the air in their homes. It is being offered first in South Korea, and should arrive in the U.S. later in the year.
You thought your Roomba was the epitome of automated home maintenance? Its random wandering approach to cleaning the dirt off your floors is downright prehistoric compared to this killbot which actively hunts down and cleans the air in your room.

Was someone just secretly smoking in your bathroom? Thanks to on-board sensors Moneual's Rydis H800 bot will seek out where the impurities originated, and clean the air with a collection of HEPA and activated carbon filters. On a full charge it will stand guard against bad smells and asthma irritants for a full four and a half hours, but company reps weren't forthcoming on pricing or availability.
At least three companies showed up with robotic floor and vacuum cleaners to rival those of iRobot's Roomba. I also spotted two robotic air purifiers. The Moneual robot air (left) purifier had a vaguely RoboCop inspired look to it.

The Ecovacs A330 Intelligent air-purifier (center) uses 45 different sensors to detect the source of bad air. It sets to work when a new toxic source is detected so it can purify the area around your cat's litter box as soon as the box starts to stink, even if you're not home to tell it do so. You never need to walk into a smelly house again, at least theoretically. Ecovacs is a Chinese company so it has an advantage in reaching out to the world's largest consumer market of the next ten years
But my favorite bot on site was the TOSY SketRobo (right), which will take your picture and draw you a sketch of yourself (for release in September). I love this because it represents a real step forward in visual recognition capability for consumer robotics. Getting bots to make sense of what they see has long been one of the biggest challenges in the field and one of the main obstacles to more common use of robots. Most AI cars see with the aid of big SICK LMS-200 laser range finders.

Humanoid Girl Robot-Akiba

Girl robot in Akiba festival, The amazingly realistic female android, named Actroid DER 2, was demonstrated at the AKIBA Robot Festival here in the Akihabara district of Tokyo.

Realistic Android With A Heart And Dinosaur DNA (Video) The amazingly realistic female android, named Actroid DER 2, was demonstrated at the AKIBA Robot Festival here in the Akihabara district of Tokyo. Philip K. Dick asked, “Do androids dream of electric sheep?” Now, decades later, we still don’t have a definitive answer to his query, though we may find out sooner than anyone thinks. Although they haven’t been combined into a complete, fully functional android yet, all of the required pieces seem to be coming together in an amazingly realistic fashion. A good example is the “Actroid DER 2? android exhibited at the AKIBA Robot Festival last weekend here in the Akihabara district of Tokyo. This female android is surprisingly realistic, right down to the polish on her dainty fingernails, her facial movements, and even skin tone. We’ve seen a lot of impressive photos and videos of Actroid DER in the past, but honestly – none of them really do justice to the android’s realism. Seeing it in person, up close, is a totally different, and almost startling experience that can’t be effective captured on film or video. Her movements are surprisingly realistic. Obviously a great deal of time and effort has been devoted to studying the body language of real women so that it could be emulated by the android. Of course all of her actions and words are carefully scripted. Her creators have even gone to the trouble of including a little humor. At one point during the …

Im Watch

i’m Watch connects to your smartphone through Bluetooth™ and delivers to your wrist, calls, text messages, emails, notifications, music, agenda, weather forecast, pictures and any other app you desire.
Intelligent and ergonomic, with a soft and elegant silhouette and a curvedHD touchscreen: i’m Watch is so fast and easy to use that it will leave everything else behind. i’m Watch: the whole world around your wrist.

the Android-powered I’m Watchsmartphone/wristwatch i’m Watch is related the hybird company The app will come with a selection of apps specifically optimized for the smaller screen. All the usual suspects will be included– weather, stocks, Twitter, Facebook, etc.

Included in the device, which sports a 1.54” (240×240) TFT display, is an ARM IMX233 processor, 64MB RAM, 4GB Flash memory, built-in speaker and mic, 3.5mm headphone jack, and Bluetooth 2.1. It also packs in a rechargeable Li-Po 400 MAh battery which provides up to 30 hours standby and 3 hours talk time on speaker phone.

We’re still curious to find out how the device interacts with iPhone, which the company claims it supports. The company is obviously hoping the device will make an impact when it eventually becomes available
We’ve seen what SONY and Motorola have come up with, but their devices don’t really do everything we want an Android powered
The Motorola ACTV is a niche device intended to work independently of your smartphone as an exercise accessory. The SONY LiveView 2 is really only a Bluetooth enabled accessory that features some nice widgets that tie into your phone. But they don’t work without having an Android powered phone by your side.

The new i’m Watch takes a different approach, offering a smart watch experience integrated with Android and iOS devices via Bluetooth that allows users to load music and other applications directly onto the device without having to rely on a smartphone at all times.  Specs on the i’m Watch include a 1.54-inch 240×240 pixel (220ppi) curved capacitive display, 450 MHz ARM processor, 64 or 128 MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage and a 450 mAh battery.
Battery life for the i’m Watch is rated at 48 hours of standby time, but that number drops off to only 24 hours if you have Bluetooth enabled. The i’m Watch team was brutally honest with me, saying that battery life is one of the main limitations of the device. Most people will be able to get through a full day with i’m Watch, but the battery can be drained in as little as three hours if you leave the display on the entire time.

Apple Nano Macbook

A few rumours are circulating about Apple releasing the Macbook Nano netbook. This rumour was recently re-enforced when a source at LG in Korea leaked some information about a technology that Apple has purchased from LG.

The new Macbook Nano (as rumours call it) will have an OLED screen supplied by LG in Taiwan. Apple have paid LG $500M up front to work on monitor and display technology. The technology that LG owns means that touchscreens will remain without finger marks making them look ultra clean and crisp at all times. Regular touchscreens take oil and dirt from your skin and it sticks on the screen. LG have created a new layer added to the manufacturing process that can eliminate oils and dirt from getting on to the screen. Impressive stuff and well needed!
Another day, another MacBook nano rumor to hit the streets. This time round we even have a mock-up image of it. Strange – how did Korea-based LG gain information (or should we say, rumor) on this? Well, whatever the case is, we’re often drawn to gossip and rumors like moths to a light, so feast your eyes on the above. Many are speculating that this will come with an OLED touchscreen display that will definitely drop jaws should it be released. After all, we can’t expect anything less after Apple paid LG a cool half billion dollars in R&D money for the touchscreen technology.
To ensure you get the smoothest ‘Hackintosh’ experience possible, you have to first know which netbooks are the best ‘hackable’ candidates before you make a purchase. Currently, the netbooks most compatible for running OS X — when every component, from Wi-Fi to built-in audio, will be recognized by an OS X installation — are the following four:

    Dell Mini 9 (everything works)
Vostro A90 (the OEM version of the Dell Mini 9)
    HP Mini 1000 (everything works)
    ASUS EeePC 1000H (everything works)

Close behind those four are the following models, of which OS X does not have the necessary kext for one particular component in each model. However, each of them can still be considered a suitable candidate for running OS X, depending on what you consider to be non-critical:

ASUS EeePC 901 (everything except sleep)
MSI Wind U100 (everything except audio input, though there’s been recent development in this area which may have solved this)
Lenovo IdeaPad S10 (everything except Ethernet)

    Memory: 2GB versus 1GB
    Storage: 160GB versus 60GB
    Battery: 6-cell (5.5 hours, 56 watt-hour) versus 3-cell (3 hours, 24.4 watt-hour)
Memory card reader: 4-in-1 (MMC/SD/Memory Stick/Memory Stick PRO) versus SD only
